  2. At last, many bugs stomped, some features added, and its pretty much "un-beta"
  3. time as of Monday, February 23rd.  That means the Mac arena will be going away
  4. and everyone gets to pay!! Yippee!! (well I don't, but that's one of the perks of 
  5. slaving away for peanuts).  As always, report new or continuing bugs BUT....
  6.  
  7. The are only FIVE known continuing bugs.  First, you still have to quit the app
  8. after going online, you can't "change modes" trivially.  Second, the darn flak
  9. sounds still have to be off or on.  It appears that the "set directional sound"
  10. on those suckers always sets a minimum volume that is higher than most
  11. people like.  It will take some special coding to get around that sucker.
  12. Third, the ordnance dialog still shows your previous plane (although the
  13. settings work fine on your current plane) and doesn't show what ordnance
  14. you get for each setting.  (Rod may fix that last one before we do the final
  15. build this evening, lets keep our finger crossed).  Fourth, the bombsight 
  16. guages ect, still do NOT work correctly, this will take some finding so
  17. it might be awhile.  The fifth bug is the one that I don't know about, report
  18. it please ;-)

  20. If you find any other bugs report them as usual off the web page at
  21. www.imagiconline.com/MacHelp....  Hopefully this facility will be expanded
  22. soon and a downloadable version with most all the information in it made
  23. available by the end of the month.  Vixen is doing it as a freebie for me
  24. despite charging other people, so I don't wanna push her too hard :-)
  25. Oh and btw, since we didn't finish this until about 3am the MacHelp won't
  26. be updated until Wednesday or Thursday, but pretty much everything is
  27. obvious. (I hope).

  29. Subsequent releases will add features, bug fixes, ect ect as they are found
  30. but the thing should run fine inflight. (crosses fingers).....

  37. A number of the more pernecious bugs have been fixed but there are more out
  38. there.  To help with this we now have a WarBirds help web site as well as the
  39. ability to download a selected part of this website to use as a static help file.

  41. This static help file isn't available yet and won't be until maybe Feb 1, at which
  42. time it will show up for download (the link to download it is already there).

  44. Bugs fixed included no caps in radio, gameid dialogue fixed (i  hope) and a number
  45. of other particularly nasty ones.  Hopefully HTH will work as well now.

  47. So, from this release, there will be a bug report form on the web site, use that
  48. form to report all bugs even if you have already reported them, don't report any
  49. more bugs on this version (b2) after Feb 7th.  Hopefully we will get the rest of
  50. the nastier bugs stomped soon as well so hopefull there will be a final release
  51. around then (Feb 7th) and the Mac beta arena will go away.  (not that it matters,
  52. it seems everyone is flying the main arena anyway).

  54. Oh yeah, fixed art files for the B25 have been uploaded.  Someone sent me a bug
  55. report about another broken art file, but I forgot which one it was (sigh).  Rereport
  56. it if its still busted.

  61. Welcome (finally) to the WarBirds 2.0 beta for the Macintosh.  Alot has changed
  62. since 1.11 as you will notice from the Interface....
  63.  
  64. InputSprocket support has been added, you will need to have the latest drivers
  65. for your joystick (downloadable from the internet) as well as putting the ISp
  66. drivers found in the folder "For System Folder" into your Extensions folder of
  67. the System Folder....

  69. There is new artwork for the planes with corrected sound files.

  71. The following things are known NOT to work....
  72.  
  73. On the fly resolution switching.  If you switch game resolutions you must
  74. quit and restart the game.  Remember your monitors current settings have
  75. to be able to support the resolution you requested in "thousands" of colors.

  77. Switching between online and back to offline does not work.  Once you have
  78. gone online you have to quit the program before you can fly offline or go back
  79. online again.

  81. HTH mode has been coded but not tested at all, use it at your own peril.

  83. You can't go into Map (F1) mode until you have flown at least once, even if
  84. it's just hittin fly then jumping back into the tower.

  86. The key to expand the radio area is now Alt-Tab, the reason for which will
  87. become obvious.  The "zoom in" and "zoom out" keys are now the keypad +/-
  88. keys.  You can remap them if you don't have such critters...

  90. There is a loggin option for loggin the radio messages while online.  This also
  91. hasn't been tested (at all)..... Just ran outta time....

  93. Right now you get no notice when the server disconnects you, but that's why
  94. we Mac users mostly use external modems anyway.  Eventually there will
  95. be such a thing.

  97. There is next to NO documentation available.  This will change when Wolfy
  98. gets back from MacWorld Expo. (Next weekend).
